The Unofficial Newsletter of Delphi Users - Issue #23 - September 1997

wayback machine http://web.archive.org/web/20050515023114/http://www.undu.com/

Sorry about the little break there folks. . . I have been involved in a few odds-and-ends projects that have sapped some of my time but I am over that now. Add to that the incredible inconvenience of having to reformat my hard drive to get Internet Explorer 4 off my machine and you can see I have been quite busy. For all of you who wrote and politely lamented over the lack of an issue of UNDU since June, this issue will no doubt come as a welcome relief. Let me re-assure you all that I have absolutely no plans of halting the publication of UNDU. On the contrary, there are a number of things in the works to enhance it significantly. . .

First of all, the UNDU web site will be undergoing a significant face lift shortly. I will be modifying the format quite a bit and adding some search capabilities. In addition, there is a Delphi Web-Ring that was formed a short while back that I will be adding to the UNDU site in the next week or two. If you want more information on the Delphi web ring, please visit the site http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/delphi.htm or contact Chuck Gadd at cgadd@cyber-fx.com.

Finally just a small note about email correspondence. I receive many emails from UNDU readers all over the globe, and I really enjoy getting peoples comments and input on UNDU as well as questions or tips they have on Delphi programming. However, because of the volume of mail involved, I cannot always respond to all emails I get. I know this is tremendously rude, so please forgive me in advance if I dont respond to your inquiry. I generally do get to all my email, but sometimes I just get swamped and cannot provide a personal response to each. If I have an answer for your email, I will reply, but if I dont have an answer, I sometimes wont.

The randomly selected winner of the UNDU prize this month is Brad Stowers for his article on A Win95 Browse Directory Component. His prize is a copy of Ray Lischners new book Hidden Paths of Delphi 3. For more on this book, check out the review in this issue!

I received a number of updates to the Delphi Users Group section of UNDU. Unfortunately, I lost a large chunk of email a short while back. What you see in this issue is what I have. If there is information that needs to be added, please let me know!

Last months Question from UNDU Readers asked if it is possible to format disks without having to shell out to DOS. Eric Lawrence of Delta Programming Group responded to me that he has put together a shareware component package called TFORMAT which allows just this capability. If you are interested in TFORMAT, please contact Eric at deltagrp@juno.com.

On a more personal note, if anyone needs an experienced Delphi programmer, I am now officially available. . . My contract with Pacific Gas & Electric is complete and I am moving on to bigger and better things!
